There is no doubt this year’s World Book Day is different to all the others!
Usually we would be in our school, dressed up as our favourite characters and enjoying all that World Book Day brings to St. Colman’s Primary School Annaclone – an area which itself is steeped in a very rich literary history.
This year we cannot be together for this special day, but we want to let everybody know how much our school loves and values reading. We want to grow the idea of what reading is and tell everybody how much joy it brings to our lives.
So how have we managed to do this?
Well we must first talk about Mr O’Neill, our school principal. In the last number of weeks, he has been working in the background to gather as many voices from across our communities to share with us their love of reading. They have explained the amazing benefits of reading and how it can improve not only their mental health, but also their physical health.
By combining the voices of our pupils and of the authors, TV presenters and sports stars to name but a few – we have been able to put together a very special video that demonstrates how much reading means to our school.
This feat would not have been possible without the help of Mr White who has expertly combined all our voices into this inspirational video.
It is a celebration of the reading culture you will find in St. Colman’s Primary School, Annaclone and we hope you love it as much as we do!
