Shared Education with P2 from Fair Hill, Kinallen
7th Mar 2025
Primary 2 began a shared education partnership with the children from Fair Hill Primary School, Kinallen and this involved a day together in each school and ended with a trip out together. The focus was on the story of “The Perfect Fit” by Niaomi Jones after a joint play-based learning session together, where the pupils were encouraged to make friends and enjoy positive relationships in the shared classroom. Mrs.Watson led the first day where the story was read together and the children explored the themes of belonging, individuality and problem-solving. They completed a group jigsaw together, realising that just like the triangle in the story found a place to fit, they all fit together too. Next in partner groups, the children completed Venn diagrams on “You and Me and how we are all different.” Mrs.Burns led the second day in St.Colman’s where the story was recapped and the pupils made and gave reasons for their own extension of a new shape to the original story. They worked as partner illustrators to imagine what activities triangle would get up to, if he met the rectangles on his journey. Today saw the completion of our shared learning by visiting Laganvale Farm, Lisburn. The children remained in their mixed coloured groups throughout the day and enjoyed the soft-play areas as well as meeting lots of animals in this amazing family farm. They showed respect for one another in all the shared spaces used for learning and hope to meet their new friends again in future years as they move through St.Colman’s. Thank you Fair Hill for our shared learning!
