Resilience- High Performance
High Performance Primary 7 Workshop with Cormac Venney. A summary of the key points are listed below if you want to discuss them further with your child.
S-L-I-D-R-R
Self-Talk: Always talk positivity above the situation. Any stumble is not a loss, it’s either a learning point or a win. “What x2 things will I do better in today’s test/homework/performance?” etc.
“Let It Go!” - if Q7. is too hard...jump past it the next 38 are more important already.
If a question causes me difficulty in school...I’m not bringing my worries home or vice versa. I can let it go!
Imagery- how will the event look? Who will be with me? What will I do when I get there? What will the task in front of me involve? Close the eyes & mind map what you are about to face.
Diaphragmatic Breathing - x2 minutes before the event begins lengthen those breaths in the nose & out the mouth. Slow the heart rate down. Improves thinking capacity & clarity of thought/reason.
Recovery - bouncebackability! WIN....what’s important now! Look forwards, not backwards.
Routine - trust in your preparation. Plan ahead. Anticipation cuts the head off bad luck. Control what you can control, ignore the other swimmers ๐โ๏ธ (Michael Phelps photograph & the skydiver).
