We had a busy Numeracy session with so many developing skills of taking turns in a partner situation, problem-solving and investigating. Using straws, sticks and play dough we wanted to discover the properties of our four basic 2D shapes. Finbarr told us to use the dough to join the parts together, while Róise quickly realised that Mrs.Burns was testing us when she asked us to make a circle in our groups. We realised that this was not possible with straight edged materials while someone else asked if they could break their stick to make short sides for their rectangle! Such deep and focused learning from the children and future engineers at work! 👏🏻🏗️🟪🟡🔺
