P7 Higher Performance Levels Workshop
P7 today welcomed Cormac Venney into their classroom today for a workshop on strategies for dealing with pressure in all its forms.
A few tips pointers from today:
[i] Use square breathing techniques for between 30-90 seconds before a big event. Regain control and focus by mastering this skill.
[ii] Always ‘swim your own lane.’ Focus on yourself and what you can still achieve. Watching too closely what others are doing in the ‘race’ will have a detrimental effect upon your own performance. It is not a holistic motivational factor.
[iii] Prepare well the night before. Don’t hamper your own chances through last minute panic brought about by poor preparation.
[iv] Keep self-talk positive and constructive. Always be aware of the power of YET.
[v] Why do we hold on so tight to mistakes and negative experiences? Let them go!!
[vi] Have a set back...? Get right back up again. Once more (same advice!) let it go! Heather Duriden video. You can’t do much about a fall or a set back before it happens but you can still control the response.
The children engaged well & I’m sure enjoyed an early finish on a Monday and well-being night off homework. ππ
