Maths Week in Primary 2

18th Oct 2024
This week we celebrated Maths Week by taking part in a Maths trail inside and outside school. We had clipboards and pencils at the ready and listened very carefully to each recorded question and noted each picture clue too. We had to find certain corridor displays, count scarecrows (even the display one!), notice the biggest number on the home-corner microwave, discover if there were more dinners or lunches in P1, name some 2D shapes and investigate the most popular colour of painted stones in our outdoor play area. Next job was to read numbers on Mrs Farrelly’s number plate and decide the smallest one, problem-solve length on the outdoor xylophone and help Mr.White to put up his class display in full by counting on 3 more. The adults in our P2 room were so impressed by the children’s enthusiasm, motivation to work out each question and we promised to award two small Numeracy prizes - one for the child who scored the most correct answers and a second to someone who demonstrated perseverance and willingness to try their very best. Well done children and continue to use Maths practically everyday!
