Maths Week in P4

18th Oct 2024

For Maths Week P4 completed a variety of activities, all hands on learning. We played addition games and discussed the variety of strategies used for completing equations in our head. Our partners were ensuring our answers were correct by using calculators before we could move forward in the game. This was a lesson in itself!
We completed daily 10 each day and used Topmarks to build our speed in our doubles and number bonds. We played games outside which incorporated number problems.
We delved into breaking down what the times table equations mean and pupils made sets that I called out as quickly as they could. We explored questions such as is 2x6 the same as 6x2? I asked pupils do these equations look the same if made in cubes?
Finally we investigated how many different ways we could make a colour pattern square following the rule on the investigation question. We were counting and matching too. P4 brains were definitely busy and lots of alternatives found!
