We were lucky enough today take part in the inter-schools K'nex Challenge! in the Abbey CBS. This is a STEM initiative, running in schools. Working in pairs, Orlagh and Aislinn had to design and construct a playground that had swings, a slide and at least one additional piece of playground equipment that 'moves' e.g. a round-a-bout. We had to think about the forces of gravity, friction and air resistance, to ensure a fast and streamlined design, as well as making it strong enough that it would work when tested by the judges. It was a great learning challenge, as well as lots of fun! The K'nex/STEM challenges are never easy but our team produced a brilliant playground from scratch and were highly commended by the judges. Well done girls.
