Here come the Dinosaurs π¦ π¦π¦
Our new class topic in Primary 1 is Dinosaurs and what a great choice it is!
The small world area was set out and the children asked for grass, while Mrs. Grant helped to make a mountain. The boys began to describe the Jurassic world they had set up during play, where the larger dinosaurs were getting ready to sleep. They did this ‘by tilting their heavy bodies’ to lie down, while the smaller dinosaurs were ‘drinking from a water hole.’ This led to an extended discussion when we were told that some dinosaurs eat πͺ΄ some eat π₯© and some both! When I asked where they are today I was quickly told, “They’re extinct which means that they are are not alive anymore, they’re dead.” We knew there were flying dinosaurs called Pterodactyls and wondered if there were any underwater dinosaurs? Before we began our search π a little boy commented, ‘Yes, it is called a ‘Mosasaurus.’
At this stage it is fair to say that our children are the best teachers!!
After discovering the unique features of some dinosaurs such as rainbow frills, webbed feet and beaked mouths we decided to create dinosaurs of our very own. Mrs.Burns invented Charliesaurus with a daisy tail, stripes and wings, who liked to blow bubbles and eat sweets!! Then it was our turn and we turned these into ChatterPix, where we explained our dinosaur’s name, their special features, what they liked to eat and their hobbies. Mrs.Burns told us that our work was super and we were like Primary 3 children!
Have a listen and enjoy!
