Christmas Closure
Update: Christmas Closure As the Christmas holidays approach, I am appreciative that many of you will be looking forward to spending some much needed and valued time with family members, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable. With this in mind I am also very aware of the ever growing concerns among parents and staff, in our school and in the wider school communities/circles in which we all mix, regarding whether or not their children should attend school next week.
Families are considering the option of protecting their family bubble in time for Christmas by limiting who they interact with. Indeed many have taken the decision to remove their children from our school and nursery already. I am conscious that a positive case of Covid 19 in the school community from this point could mean that pupils and families are required to self-isolate over Christmas day.
After consulting with the Board of Governors, it is agreed that the school will not be open for children for the half day (0900 - 1100) next Monday 21st December. The school has made the decision that it is in the best interests of all pupils, parents and staff to now finish for the Christmas break this Friday 18th December, at the normal finishing times. This is not a decision that we have taken lightly but we are all too aware of the possible impact that a potential case of Covid-19 would have on Christmas plans at this late stage and feel that this is the best decision for the entire school community. I thank you all for your continued support and understanding throughout these difficult times and I wish you all a very safe and happy Christmas.
Yours sincerely,
Mr O'Neill
