“Being famous means you are really good at something and you give autographs!”

Primary 2 are busy exploring a world full of famous people and before even beginning their new topic, they stated that ‘You have to do the same things over and over again to be famous.’ First up was a famous Olympian and runner Usain Bolt, who was born in Jamaica and won a free lunch when he beat a classmate in a race! Next came the famous “Lady with the Lamp”, Florence Nightingale and the children were amazed at how determined she was to help those who were suffering instead of getting married and remaining in a wealthy family. They were able to recall lots of adjectives from our recent dress up to describe her. A well known artist Van Gogh was the subject this week and the pupils laughed when they found out he was stubborn as a very young boy but yet so eager to improve his painting and did so that often that he “felt like his head was on fire!” They recreated three of his famous paintings using oil pastels instead of paint and turned these into ChatterPix to share facts they have remembered. Next on our list is Coco Chanel and the famous ‘little black dress’ - watch out for our new designer range of garments, bags, accessories and perfume just in time for Spring!

This is certainly a class topic that could last for many weeks and never grows old.
