Heart Start - Heartbeat NI donate a defibrillator to St. Colman's PS and All Saints' NU

28th Sep 2018

A defibrillator, also known as AED, is a portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart.

A DEFIBRILLATOR has been donated to St. Colman's Primary School and All Saints' by Heartbeat NI after Lisa McGurnaghan, a mother of a three-year-old boy who has dedicated herself to ensuring that all local primary schools have one in place,  got in touch with the charity and sought out their help.

The device was unveiled on Friday as part of the school’s October promotion of Start A Heart Day on 16/10/18.

It was presented to the school by Heartbeat NI Chairman, Irwyn McKibben.

Mrs Burns and Mr O'Neill, together with our P4 and P5 children (many of whom are school trained Heart Starters) were in attendance today to meet and thank Irwyn, Lisa and her son Daniel.

We would also like to thank Roisin O'Hare for supporting this cause and for donating a banner to the school. The banner highlights the on-going need for all schools to be equipped with an AED.
